Las Vegas, after dark
Strip clubs. Pool clubs. Headliner residencies. 24 hours.
The most concentrated adult entertainment industry in the United States. Sapphire, Spearmint Rhino, Crazy Horse 3 for the gentleman’s clubs, Marquee and Omnia for the pool-club residencies, burlesque from Jubilee to Absinthe. The Nevada brothel framework applies in nearby counties — never in Clark itself.
Where to stay in Las Vegas
Stay in Off-Strip if you want walking distance to the main district and don't mind paying for it. Downtown is the mid-range play — ten minutes by transit, better hotels for the money, locals at the bar after midnight. The off-centre option — two transit stops out — costs about half and adds a taxi back after 02:00. Pick the one that matches what you're optimising for.
Before you go to Las Vegas
No photography of dancers or the gaming floors. Casino security enforces this aggressively. Phones away on the floor; phones away inside the clubs unless management explicitly OKs it.
Carry cash for tipping. The casinos take cards everywhere else; strip clubs prefer cash and the ATM fees inside the venues are punitive (10-15%). Hit the casino ATMs before walking in.
The Strip never closes; the Deuce bus runs 24/7. Uber and Lyft after 02:00 between properties. Don't walk between Stratosphere and Sahara at 04:00 — the corridor is the riskiest stretch of the Strip.
Timeshare-pitch hustlers near Bellagio fountains, Strat and Fremont are the most common avoidable annoyance. 'Not interested' once, then walk. Sex-worker street-pitches on Fremont late are the second.
Welcoming but the scene is compact. The 'Fruit Loop' (Paradise Road east of the Strip) is the established gay cluster. Same-sex marriage Nevada since 2014 (federalised 2015). The Strip casinos are universally inclusive; the surrounding Clark County is patchier in the suburbs. Trans care is private and available.
From the field
Spent four nights, learnt the map. The places everyone in the guide says to go are the places everyone goes — the actual scene is one street over and the prices are half. Skip the first place the taxi suggests. The version the locals use is a different night entirely.
