Nana Plaza and Soi Cowboy for the famous adult entertainment strips, Patpong for the history, RCA for actual clubs, Thonglor for the wealthy local crowd, and a rooftop bar scene that runs from sunset until well past dawn.

Where to stay in Bangkok

Stay in Sukhumvit if you want walking distance to the main district and don't mind paying for it. Silom is the mid-range play — ten minutes by transit, better hotels for the money, locals at the bar after midnight. The off-centre option — two transit stops out — costs about half and adds a taxi back after 02:00. Pick the one that matches what you're optimising for.
